This fall, the Solar Workgroup is partnering with the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) to host the Tazewell County Solar Tour. As a local spin on the National Solar Tour,  our tour will introduce you to a handful of homes and businesses in the region that have eagerly adopted solar energy. On this tour, you will learn about solar energy in the region, local stories behind solar, your solar opportunities, and more!

About the Clinch River Farms:

Richard and Karen Hudson, owners of Clinch River Farms of Pounding Mill, were recognized as the first recipients of the Green Technologies Award from the Southwestern Virginia Technology Council (SWVTC) during their 10th annual gala, tech expo, and awards ceremony at the Higher Education Center on the grounds of Virginia Highlands Community College on May 28, 2009. Clinch River Farms is the first grid-tied solar system in Tazewell County producing 17 1⁄2 KWH per day on a good sunny day. The sixteen, 190 watt solar panels on the barn connect to an inverter that feeds the grid-tied system to their eco-smart house.
